Protesters rallied outside South Bay House of Correction last Friday, calling again for justice in the December killing of Shacoby Kenny. (Read prior BINJ coverage here).
Kenny’s death was ruled a homicide by the state medical examiner’s office in July, and witnesses have told media outlets that corrections officers brutally beat Kenny.
The state AG’s office is leading a criminal investigation, but no charges have been filed yet.
The protest inserted the case into the state’s upcoming primary elections, featuring remarks from former Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins—who is running for that position again—and independent gubernatorial candidate Andrea James.
