Editor’s Note: Welcome New BINJ.News Subscribers!

We hope you enjoy our award-winning independent journalism covering Boston and environs

Recently we’ve had a big spike in new subscriptions to BINJ.News, thanks to some much-needed assistance we’ve been getting from a specialist firm recommended to us by a colleague from a major news outlet.

So my BINJ colleagues Chris Faraone, John Loftus, Linda Pinkow and I just wanted to welcome all of you to this publication and to our BINJ.News Weekly Newsletter—which we typically push out on Fridays at 4 p.m., 50 weeks a year.

Each week you can expect to receive three to eight original works of independent journalism produced by our professional reporters together with our “intern army” (currently 21 strong for the fall term!) covering the Greater Boston area with forays into communities around Massachusetts.

We remain a general-interest publication in a period when that’s gone out of fashion—meaning we examine topics ranging from prisons and government transparency to arts and culture. Our articles are multimedia; so while we’ve always produced a lot of traditional text news stories, we also release audio and video work as well. In fact, in the last year, we’ve begun a video program built around our regular BINJ Live YouTube show from which we cut numerous short videos that have attracted enough attention to help stabilize our circulation numbers.

If you ever have a news tip or need to get in touch with us with a comment on one of our articles, BINJ staff can be reached by email at info [at] binj [dot] news.

That’s it for now. We’re really glad you signed up and hope you enjoy our journalism.

(P.S.: Big ups to our longtime subscribers, too. We wouldn’t still be here without your steadfast ongoing support!)

The Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism produces bold independent journalism for Greater Boston and beyond.
Since 2015, BINJ has been producing hard-hitting news and analysis focusing on housing, criminal justice, the environment, government malfeasance, corporate corruption—and shedding light wherever it’s needed.

We work with some of the most experienced reporters in Greater Boston, and we also train dozens of emerging journalists each year to help them learn critical skills while providing quality reporting to our audience.

BINJ not only produces important stories; we also share our work for free with other community news outlets around Massachusetts, while organizing and leading at the regional and national levels of the nonprofit news industry.

We collaborate with other community publications and engage the public in civic educational initiatives

If you appreciate the work we are doing, please help us continue by making a tax-deductible donation today! With your support, BINJ can continue to provide more high-quality local journalism for years to come.
