Editor’s Note: Low-Key Fundraiser, High-Key Need

Donate to BINJ today!

We don’t go full court press at BINJ with our annual summer appeal to readers like you. Because low-pressure conversations fit the traditional spirit of the season. But it is a serious month-long effort on our part nonetheless … because the budgetary pressure on us remains high.

As we wait to see if a couple of irons we have in the proverbial fire with longtime major donors pan out over the coming months, we remain quite well aware that a funding cliff looms for us in August. If we can’t raise several thousand in small donations and find some new larger donors to help see us through the coming rough patch, then we’re going to have to severely curtail our activities until more money can be found. And we definitely don’t want to do that.

So, once again, I ask you to support the Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism with whatever you can spare. It does make a difference and allows BINJ staff, professional journalists, and talented “Intern Army” to keep producing independent journalism in the public interest about key issues of the day in Boston and around Massachusetts.

Thanks very much for your consideration.

The Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism produces bold independent journalism for Greater Boston and beyond.
Since 2015, BINJ has been producing hard-hitting news and analysis focusing on housing, criminal justice, the environment, government malfeasance, corporate corruption—and shedding light wherever it’s needed.

We work with some of the most experienced reporters in Greater Boston, and we also train dozens of emerging journalists each year to help them learn critical skills while providing quality reporting to our audience.

BINJ not only produces important stories; we also share our work for free with other community news outlets around Massachusetts, while organizing and leading at the regional and national levels of the nonprofit news industry.

We collaborate with other community publications and engage the public in civic educational initiatives

If you appreciate the work we are doing, please help us continue by making a tax-deductible donation today! With your support, BINJ can continue to provide more high-quality local journalism for years to come.
