Editor’s Note: BINJ Annual Fundraising Drive Was A Success!

Thanks to all our wonderful donors!

Once again, as has been our practice for the last five years, we asked our audience to support the Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism every week in November and December and a bunch of you came through. We’re still waiting for any late checks to arrive, but we already know we blew past our $50,000 fundraising target! Together with an additional anonymous $50,000 donation we received during the same period, we’re extremely pleased to announce that we raised over $100,000 at year’s end. A new record!

So a big and heartfelt thanks from all of us here at BINJ to all of our excellent donors. Your generosity means that we can keep covering Massachusetts news in the public interest for another several months. We’re always fundraising, true, but we’re never more thrilled than when our readers step up en masse during our biggest annual drive and donate whatever they can afford to help us keep going.

Our best regards for a Happy New Year to you and your friends and families. Thanks to your ongoing support, we’re certainly starting this one with a super positive outlook!

The Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism produces bold independent journalism for Greater Boston and beyond.
Since 2015, BINJ has been producing hard-hitting news and analysis focusing on housing, criminal justice, the environment, government malfeasance, corporate corruption—and shedding light wherever it’s needed.

We work with some of the most experienced reporters in Greater Boston, and we also train dozens of emerging journalists each year to help them learn critical skills while providing quality reporting to our audience.

BINJ not only produces important stories; we also share our work for free with other community news outlets around Massachusetts, while organizing and leading at the regional and national levels of the nonprofit news industry.

We collaborate with other community publications and engage the public in civic educational initiatives

If you appreciate the work we are doing, please help us continue by making a tax-deductible donation today! With your support, BINJ can continue to provide more high-quality local journalism for years to come.
