GIVE NOW AND HAVE YOUR DONATION MATCHED DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR!

A special message from BINJ Executive Director Jason Pramas:

SUPPORT LOCAL JOURNALISM IN NOV & DEC 2022, FIRST $15,000 MATCHED DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR

Two-month Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism fundraiser to be amplified by the Institute for Nonprofit News and the Miami Foundation

November 1, 2022

I am pleased to announce that the Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism has been accepted into the NewsMatch program by the Institute for Nonprofit News and the Miami Foundation for the second year in a row. Meaning that this email marks the start of another November and December fundraiser where the first $1,000 of every individual donation from supporters like you at givetobinj.org will be matched dollar for dollar up to $15,000.

Over the next two months, my colleague Chris Faraone and I will email you regularly to tell you about the work BINJ does in Massachusetts in some detail. You’ll learn about who works with us, what we all do as journalists for the many communities we serve with top-flight news coverage, and why we do what we do … day to day, year to year, for very little money, in the public interest.

And we sincerely hope that, as you hear our story in more detail, you’ll understand why keeping independent, investigative, community journalism going is absolutely necessary to keep democracy going—in an era when both journalism and democracy are under threat here in the US and around the world—and donate whatever you can to help us keep on keeping on.

Important note: Please only choose a monthly donation to BINJ at givetobinj.org during the two-month NewsMatch period if you have not donated monthly to BINJ before. Otherwise, INN and the Miami Foundation will only count your first month’s donation for the match rather than the projected total of 12 monthly donations. If in doubt, please just make a lump-sum donation to ensure that BINJ gets the full amount matched up to the first $1,000.

Chris and I look forward to talking with you about the work of the Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism throughout November and December. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us directly at info@binjonline.org.

Best regards,

Jason

Since 2015, BINJ has been producing hard-hitting news and analysis focusing on housing, criminal justice, the environment, government malfeasance, corporate corruption—and shedding light wherever it’s needed.
