BINJ funds journalistic and engagement efforts in numerous ways including: hosting events, providing creative services, and syndicating to national outlets. In our first three years, we have received generous funding from the Reva & David Logan Foundation based in Chicago, and in 2018 became the recipients of an unexpected prize won on an MTV competition show that we are using for our ongoing opioid coverage. We have more than 100 monthly sustaining members with more coming on every week, and are excited to begin crowdfunding for specific projects in 2019.
Donations Policy
BINJ will accept donations from individuals, foundations, corporations and governments, that agree with our mission to provide professional independent journalism in the service of a more democratic society, on a case by case basis at the discretion of our management and board. In general, we are seeking donations from socially responsible funders that adhere to the highest possible legal, ethical, labor, human rights and environmental standards in the communities they serve. We will reject donations from any entity or individual that attempts to control our editorial policy in any way.
